How do I charge a customer from their security deposit? (Less than £500)

  1. Place the customer's security deposit on hold. Select 'manage security deposit' from the reservation, and click 'hold security deposit'. This will stop the security deposit from being automatically released after 7 days.
  2. Message the customer to give them a heads up of what you will need repairing, and give a broad timeline of when you expect to receive quotes/invoices to send them. From our experience, clear and direct communication with customers goes a long way at this point to avoid any potential dispute with the customer.
  3. Gather your quotes/invoices. Once you receive a quote from a trusted source, or purchase the item that needs to be replaced/fixed, please send them directly to the customer.
  4. If the cost is less than £500, you can deduct this from the security deposit by using the 'manage security deposit' function on Wheelbase. This will be paid to you in the next owner payout.
